Payment Terminals and TWINT

DiKAS connects card terminals in the same ways as described in the rest of the manual, see Payment Methods and Hardware.

Connections

Route What DiKAS does
Card terminal (ZVT) Amount is handed to the terminal; void (reversal) and end-of-day batch (Kassenschnitt) from the POS
SumUp Terminal alternative, amount from the POS
Stripe Terminal including Tap to Pay
Softpay Tap to Pay directly on the Android POS device, without terminal

Refunds: free at the ZVT terminal; Stripe and SumUp refund only to the original payment. ZVT and Softpay pass terminal tips into the POS; SumUp, Stripe Terminal and Stripe Tap to Pay do not report tips back.

Terminal contract

Which cards and which currency a terminal accepts is determined by your contract with the acquirer, not DiKAS. Before ordering, clarify that the terminal is enabled for use in Switzerland.

TWINT

Your card terminal accepts TWINT like a card payment — the guest scans the code at the terminal or holds the phone to the device. In DiKAS you book the transaction as a card payment; there is no separate TWINT connection of the POS. Whether your terminal accepts TWINT depends on your acquirer.

Seeing TWINT separately in the reports

If your terminal reports the card type back, DiKAS can adopt it as its own payment method in the reports — switch under Admin → Settings → Payments, see Payment Methods.
